Description:  Excavations of the Manor House site circa 1952-55 revealed a simple rectangular stone hall probably of the 12th century, with an extension of about 1200 AD. Occupation was estimated to have ended about 1400. There were indications of an earlier timber building, and also of other extensive foundations in the same field. Finds included medieval pottery and coins, and a silver coin of Burgred (King of Mercia, AD 852-874)
