Description: Excavations between 1975 and 1991 uncovered evidence of Iron Age settlement, dating from the 6th century BC onwards, consisting of hut circles and ditches. An enclosure containing a crouched inhumation of Late Iron Age date was also found. A sequence of Roman buildings including a villa was also excavated. The villa dates from cAD 270-370 though settlement goes back to the second century AD.
