LONG MELFORD AND BURY ST EDMUNDS RAILWAY


Description:  The Long Melford and Bury St Edmunds was authorised to the Eastern Counties Railway in 1861, but re-enacted to the Great Eastern Railway in 1862 and opened in 1865. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1961 and the track South of Lavenham lifted in 1962, although freight continued between Lavenham and Bury until 1965.
