Description: Early 20th century formal and terraced garden at Moor Close, a house constructed 1881. The gardens were designed by Oliver Hill circa 1914 and are divided into a number of geometrical sections separted by flights of steps. Also present is a rectangular lawn with a paved `water parterre' on the southern side, and a central urn. To the southwest is a curved, balustraded double staircase rising to a pergola with twin gazebos to either side. The Upper Pool comprises a circular pool with a central fountain set in a paved area with areas of bedding. Another paved area contains a central stepped rectangular pool with a fountain and stone seats. This layout was originally ornamented with scultures, urns and plants in tubs and flower beds.
