Description:
The remains of a small rectangular building were noted emerging through the turf towards the centre of the field south of the Pennine Way c.200m east of Upper Booth Farm. This presented as the remains of stone wall footings, possibly associated with earthwork remains of adjoining yards. Requires further survey.
This site should be seen in the context of similar structures to N (63524), SE (63526) and W (63535). Such buildings not noted elsewhere on the holding and perhaps indicative of relict land use system.
It was very strange that this site was not recorded by the 1992 Edale survey. This implies that it was demolished before 1839 (earliest map coverage) or missed by a series of map surveyors, which seems unlikely.
