Description:
NMR Nos.
WSCC Site No. 1769
No evidence of earthworks at the precise location but possibly two lynchets further E in the same field. There was quite a large concentration of tile fragments in this area. This area is the level area before the field drops eastward to the floor of the small valley. Plough action destroyed any trace on ground for this settlement which is now only visible on AP's. The water logged nature of the ground around the barn suggests an ample water supply.
AP's should be consulted and the site plotted and then confirmed via a geophysical survey.
TOPOGRAPHY/GEOLOGY: Arable field on chalk downland above a small dry valley.
RELATIONSHIP: Close to BA barrow cemetery to the W and adjacent to field system to the E in the same field.

ORIENTATION:
Archaeological Comments - Site:121029*0 Site is effectively destroyed on the surface but a site visit revealed a high concentration of tile and building material. The site is almost certainly associated with the field system.
