Description:  EXTERNAL FEATURES
Bailiff's Cottage was built by Thomas Pope in 1855, the year after he bought the estate. It was he who built the first part of Harewoods House. In 1896 it was extended by A.H.Lloyd who had bought the estate in 1875. The present Living Room is said to have for a while been a Laundry for Harewoods House. It was brought into domestic use some years ago, perhaps 1955 when the estate passed to the Trust. The farm is an interesting planned farmstead built over a comparatively short period between these two dates. The farm buildings are covered by a separate report.
Walls: Flemish bond brickwork with corner pilasters and an ornamental cement band at f/f window cill level. The dairy has been extended and there is a blocked window in it's northern wall. The Living Room is of white weatherboard walls, wainscotted internally. The position of an earlier external door is marked by the door step.
Roof: Hard plain tiles to the front welsh slate to the rear, with ornamental ridge. The bay of the 1896 portion has some scallop tiles it also has a good brick chimney.
INTERNAL FEATURES
A number of good fireplaces remain: of particular note is the marbled wooden fireplace in the Front Room. The Dairy walls are tiled, it has slate benches and a quarry tile floor.
