Description:
A small enclosure approximately 21m long by 12m wide and apparently abutting the north-west side of the Dorchester to Old Sarum road along its long side is visible on aerial photograph ST9603/4. It appears to be of Romano-British date, possibly a staging post, but no datable evidence was found when the site was visited.
No trace of this site was visible although the field had been newly ploughed. The field has been eroded by ploughing for many years. It was enclosed in 1740 ( 1742 map) as part of the Badbury Warren enclosures. Archaeological features probably survive where they are cut into natural chalk.
