NORTH OF CHATTERIS PARISH CHURCH, HIGH STREET

Description:  Four trenches dug prior to housing development and following an assessment (Event 1350001). Remains suggested possible former presence of Bronze Age barrow on site now occupied by St Peter & St Paul's Church and the probable former existence of Roman occupation in the near vicinity. A back-filled borehole was encountered in the SW corner of the site. Proc. Cambridge Antiq. Soc. 90 lists this site amongst work undertaken in 2000. Developer: Slaley Homes Ltd.
