STORRS HALL


Description:  A large house built in 1848 on the site of an earlier house. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with a slate roof and is in a domestic Gothic style. To the rear there is a four storey embattled tower, with octagonal corner turret. The symmetrical south facade is of two storeys with a projecting gabled bay at each side and a recesed two-bay centre with central attic dormer. Windows are mullioned and transomed, with flat heads, hoods, and Tudor-arched heads to the lights. On the ground floor of the outer bays they are of eight lights, on the first floor of six lights. The two central bays have windows of four lights. The attic windows are of two lights with mullions. The doorway has a moulded surround with Tudor-arched head.
