This polygon contains most of the Braithwell conservation area but is slightly larger. The overall character is of limestone houses in the vernacular tradition dating to the 17th and 18th centuries with some later infilling. Braithwell is an old settlement which is recorded as having a church and priest in the Domesday Book. The market has been established since the medieval period. Legibility of the former character is uncertain as it is unknown what existed prior to the vernacular architecture.
