Golf course which was built on an area of regular surveyed enclosure, probably of former commons. There was a large area of commons west of here up until the late 18th century. The land in this polygon fell within the historic township of Notton which lies outside of South Yorkshire. This land doesn’t seem to fall within any parliamentary enclosure award, there is no evidence of one at Notton. It is enclosed by 1775 (Jefferys' map). There is no legibility of the former moorland but there is partial legibility of the former enclosures within the course.
