A new development of office blocks. The area has a long history of industrial use having been part of the 'Kelham Island' created in the middle ages by the goits for the nearby town mill. First developed for the 'heavy trades' in the mid 18th century, the area housed one of the worlds earliest integrated steelworks, belonging to John Marshall. The remains of a steel making cementation furnace dating to 1780 have been preserved under glass in the forecourt of the new offices. A tannery also operated in the northern part of the polygon, making use of the river water and an edge of town position. The famous firm of Vickers took over the Marshall works as the area became dominated by steelworks. Towards the end of the 20th century the area became more associated with Whitbread's brewery. Legibility is fragmentary as little remains other than the name Millsands and the preserved furnace.
