Plantation woodlands surrounding Broomhead and Morehall Reservoirs. The woods were probably planted for decorative landscaping purposes upon completion of the reservoirs. Prior to this the landscape consisted of numerous small piecemeal enclosures broken up by sparse, isolated and small pockets of woodland. Legibility of the previous landscape is invisible. The date of origin of the moorland is uncertain but it had probably developed in this area by the Roman period (see Bevan 2003 for discussion of environmental evidence in the area).
