The polygon follows the original plot that appears to have been set aside for the construction of Christ Church Heeley of 1846-8 (Harman and Minnis 2004, 238). The plot would appear to be a part of the strip enclosure system surrounding Middle Heeley on the 1851 OS and is also shown on Fairbank's 1795 map and Sanderson's map of 1834. The polygon contained a small rectory accompanying the church until the 1984 survey when the present domestic buildings at 'Gleadless Court' are first depicted. Partial legibility of earlier field boundary.
