Late 19th century church built on the outskirts of the village of Hoyland Swaine, first depicted in 1893 maps. Built on probable parliamentary enclosure (date English 1985). There is no legibility of the enclosure in the current church. The origin of the former moorland landscape is uncertain though this area is likely to be moorland by the Roman period (see Bevan 2003 for discussion of environmental evidence in region).
