The grammar school was built in 1639 (see Pratt 1882, 149 for history of schools development) although the current building has been altered in the 19th and 20th century (Listed Building ref: 334164). The building is now used as a church hall. The school was built adjacent to the church and was probably on church land. This may have been assarted from ancient woodland originally. The surrounding fields on historic maps had sinuous boundaries indicative of assarted woodland. There is no legibility of this in the polygon.
