Supermarket designed by architect Michael with innovative steel waveform roof and floor to ceiling glass walling. Winner of the RIBA regional design award in 1997. The supermarket with its enormous car park on one side and loading bays to the rear occupies the site of a former railway yard and the 'Millhouses and Abbeydale Station' both dating from the construction of the Midland Railway in the 1870s which still forms the south western boundary of the site. Railway Yard appears cleared on map evidence by 1982. Station House still exists. Fragmentary legibility of former railway property
