Semi-detached housing incorporating a few flats and the Crookes Working Men's Club. The housing, which dates from the late 1930s onwards, is built on the site of two old sandstone quarries - Toft Wood Quarry and Horsfall Quarry. The quarries are marked on the 1st edition OS map of 1855. Prior to quarrying the land was agricultural, being enclosed in strips from the former open fields of Crookes (Truswell field and North field). Legibility is partial as the previous open field landscape has heavily influenced the development of Crookes and the streets follow the line of the enclosed strips.
