Currently occupied by gasholder and depot. Gasholder first depicted 1891 so potentially a Victorian survival. Gas works first depicted 1851 to the west of this site. 1851 and earlier mapping (e.g. the 1828 map reproduced in Hunter Vol. 1) shows this area as part of ‘The Holmes’ a place-name commonly used to identify meadows and land liable to flooding (Field 1972) No legibility of earlier evidence although below ground archaeological evidence probably survives.
