Regenerated scrubland on the site of the old Manor Castle Colliery. The colliery began work in 1840 within Sheffield Park. It is marked as 'Disused' on the 1905 25 inch OS map and by 1923 the colliery buildings have disappeared. Prior to the colliery, the site consisted of fields enclosed in a piecemeal fashion from Sheffield Park. The present day Manor Lane, along the edge of the polygon, follows the route of a road marked on the Fairbanks plan of 1795 and is probably the original route up to the Manor. Legibility is fragmentary due to this.
