Driving range created between 2001 and 2002 (Doncaster MBC planning application ref: 01/51/3414/P/MIN) on the site of former Brick and Tile Works (depicted OS maps 1851-1950) on the former 'Pissy Beds Common' enclosed by parliamentary award 1825 (Haywood 1825). The place name 'Pissy Beds' almost certainly originates from the Middle English "pissabed" meaning "dandelion" a name referring to the diuretic properties of the herb (Shorter Oxford English Dictionary [Third Edition] 1973, 1591).
