Modern housing estate which largely overwrites the previous landscape. The Inclined plane which transported coal from Moor End (HSY6305) and House Carr Collieries ran through this polygon but there is no survival of this in the housing. The southern limit of the polygon lies against the route of a disused railway line. The housing estate was built on land that was probably part of the parliamentary enclosure of Silkstone Common in 1809 (date English 1985). This area is marked as moorland on Jefferys map of 1775 and the field boundaries are very regular. There is fragmentary legibility of this enclosure in the west boundary of the estate which survives.
