This polygon covers the hamlet of Clifton and corresponds mostly to the conservation area. It consists mostly of detached villas although there are still some farm buildings. Clifton is mentioned in the Domesday Book but apparently has little historic fabric surviving. Magilton (1977, 27) describes the village as exhibiting "no unusual features and very little of the slightest interest to a student of vernacular architecture". However, the street pattern and many boundaries depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1854 remain. It also has elements of medieval planning such as a Back Lane. Legibility of the former character is therefore partial.
