These large field units of an average size in the range 15 - 20 ha were comprehensively resurveyed between 1891 and 1907 with only traces of the earlier layout (most importantly at the edges of this polygon) retained. Earlier maps are suggestive of the strip enclosure of former common arable strips in a manner similar to the layout preserved within Wath golf course (HSY3121) to the north. This previous field system may have been associated with the medieval settlement of Abdy. No legibility of earlier character types in the current landscape.
