Modern shopping centre with roof top parking. Fitted within the main road that cuts through the earlier pattern of streets within the town. The former streets round here were laid out by the surveyor John Whitworth in c.1838 on an area of irregular enclosure probably assarted from woodland at an early date. Within that pattern Bore Spring linen mill was built by 1855. There is fragmentary legibility of the earlier street pattern in the survival of Pitt Street.
