This area is continuous, in terms of its present character, with HSY 2289 - an area of low density housing [11 dwellings per ha. (DVS 2005 page 5 of .pdf version)]. This area has been separately polygonised due to its different landscape history, having been built on the former Dore Moor, which was enclosed by Act of Parliament in 1809 (ibid, 3). Partial legibility of previous landscape through the enclosure period section of Newfield Lane which forms its western boundary. The origin of the moorland landscape is uncertain though this area is likely to be moorland by the Roman period (see Bevan 2003 for discussion of environmental evidence).
