Modern housing replacing a small terrace that was marked on 1855 maps. This may have been built because of the quarrying in the surrounding area. This was formerly an area of surveyed enclosure that was part of the 1779 Barnsley enclosure award (date from English 1985). This land was enclosed from Warren common. Some where within this area was a medieval warren probably established by the monks of Pontefract and later used by Francis Wortley (Hunter 1931, 256). There is no legibility of the past landscape.
