Area of very good surviving strip fields with little boundary loss since 1851. Known to be still an open field in 1618 with parts known as Overfield, Ryfield and Longleyes (Hey 2002, 32). Probably agreed enclosure in 17th or 18th century. At southern limits of polygon 1851 map shows a Tanyard. Bark Lane also cuts through the pattern of strip enclosure and is probably contemporary with the tanning activities. Enclosed strips provide significant legibility of former open fields.
