May be the site of the Corn Mill built by Ulysses Fox in the early 17th century who was fined by the court of Kings Bench in 1641 for 'trespass' against the manorial monopoly of milling (Crossley et al 1989: 70). Certain documentary evidence for these sites begins with a reference to a single mill in 1752 and to two mills in 1757. Sites appear to have been in use for corn milling throughout their history. Last used c1884. Nether Mill demolished 1950. The buildings of Upper Mill survive as do the silted up dams and the large overflow weirs.
