Worsbrough is mentioned in the Domesday Book and the church is dated to the Norman period, although it has been substantially altered since (Pevsner 1967, 558). Settlement may date back to the 7th century (Ashurst 1962, 3-4) but there are no known physical remains. Substantial parts of the village which are shown on first edition maps (1855) have been altered by modern building. The remaining 18th and 19th century structures give significant legibility of the earlier village.
