Belle Vue stables and the adjacent St Leger Hotel are situated next to Doncaster Racecourse. The stables were first depicted on the 1930 OS map. Formerly the land was part of Belle Vue House, a large detached villa, which was built for Alderman Lockwood in 1801. The hotel has reused the main house building. Prior to this, the area was agricultural. Land adjacent on the 1st edition OS map is shown as strip fields and it is likely that this area once consisted of strips consolidated from an open field. Legibility is fragmentary as the main house still stands.
