Modern regular fields on an area of former opencast mining which took place at some point between 1965 mapping and 1984 mapping. Formerly this was an area of semi regular piecemeal enclosure of what was probably a medieval town field. Kexbrough was a settlement in the medieval period, mentioned in the Domesday Book. The semi regular form of this piecemeal enclosure may indicate it was enclosed at a relatively late date. There is no legibility of the former landscape prior to the opencast mining.
