A group of terraces along City Road the most southerly of which are first depicted on the 1905 25 inch OS map. By the 1923 25 inch OS map, all the houses have been constructed. Earlier maps, including the Fairbanks plan of 1795 and the Sanderson map of 1835, show the area as fields with the characteristics of piecemeal enclosure. A few small sandstone quarries are shown within the area on the 1st edition OS map. Prior to fields, the area was on the eastern and southern edge of Sheffield Park, which was a medieval deer park. Legibility is fragmentary as the south eastern edge of the polygon follows the parish boundary, which probably follows the edge of the former deer park.
