This is an interesting group of fields marked on the 1st Edition Os map as Crooked Head Field. This name probably derives from the triangular shape of the plot. Many of the boundaries depicted on the 1st edition map are still extant. The southern boundary follows the line of the Roman Ridge. The old boundary has subsequently been reused and respected. It currently forms the parish boundary. The internal boundaries are probably the result of parliamentary enclosure, possibly in 1814. Legibility of the former landscape is significant due to the reuse and persistence of the roman ridge boundary.
