The present buildings of this educational complex date principally to 1960 onwards although the core of the Rother Valley College section dates back to 1923 "The clock-towered building was built as a mining college by the Dinnington Colliery Company, and was opened in 1928 as the Chelmsford Mining and Technical Institute. By the turn of the 1960s it was known as Dinnington Technical College, and later adopted the name Rother Valley College" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rother_Valley_College accessed 24th Feb 2006) No legibility of earlier landscape. 1851 field morphology suggests parliamentary enclosure of former Lorden Field.
