The allotments are first depicted on the 1934 25 inch OS map. Prior to this the area is shown as undeveloped being depicted as enclosed fields on maps reaching back to the Fairbanks plan of 1795. The enclosure was probably assarted from Cockshott (Roe) Wood during the disparkment of Shirecliffe Park. Legibility is invisible as no boundaries or indications of past use are preserved.
