Regenerated woodland to the south of Shirtcliff Brook. Studied as part of 'Fuelling the Revolution - the woods that Founded the Steel Country" (NAA 2001, 20). This part of the woodlands was part of the extensive strip fields system that once surrounded the village of Woodhouse and terminated to the north at Shirtcliff Brook. Earthwork boundary features survive within this polygon (ibid, 5). A 20th century drift mine was also recorded by the NAA survey at SK 416 852. Significant legibility of mine and boundary features.
