Detached and semi detached houses mostly built in around the 1980s. These houses replace terraces built in the 19th century. Historic maps also show the former tollhouse and the original Bridge Inn. The tollhouse would have been built in 1741 when the Doncaster-Saltersbrook turnpike was constructed (Elliot 2001, 28). The Bridge Inn was a medieval building which testifies to the importance of this road from an early date when it would have been used as a salt route (Hey 1979, 60-63). There is no legibility of the earlier housing or the unenclosed landscape that probably preceded it.
