Mostly semi-detached with a few detached houses on a plot at Hill Top, Bents Green, Sheffield. The housing is first depicted on the 1935 25 inch OS map. Before that the area is largely rural in character with the same pattern of fields shown on the 1795 Fairbanks plan as on later OS maps. The regularity of the fields suggests private surveyed enclosure of lands belonging to a single landowner. Legibility is invisible The origin of the moorland landscape is uncertain though this area is likely to be moorland by the Roman period (see Bevan 2003 for discussion of environmental evidence).
