A planned estate that features a variety of housing types including many flats. Mostly constructed in the 1960s although the north western area along Lapwater Road appears to have been added in the 1980s. Prior to development, the area was agricultural, consisting of irregularly shaped fields indicative of piecemeal enclosure. Legibility of the previous landscape is fragmentary. Some roads, such as Lapwater and Whitehall have been named after the farmsteads upon which they were constructed. Town Lane is also an older route leading to Greasbrough.
