Lees Hall golf course is first depicted on the 1924 6 inch OS map. Prior to the golf course the area consisted of fields with the characteristics of piecemeal enclosure. Some of the field boundaries remain incorporated into the present golf course. Legibility is fragmentary due to this. The clubhouse stands on the site of the former Sheephill Farm and may incorporate some of the buildings within the current layout. 'Sheephill' listed as a settlement site in Elizabethan parish registers (Kingston 2004)
