This site, is depicted with buildings on the 1825 enclosure map (Haywood), with a complex of buildings identified on later OS maps as the 'Ship Inn'. This inn and beer house probably developed in support of the users of the port of 'Thorne Quay' or 'Waterside' (see Listed Building 334698). By 1891 the inn site as been added to with the 'Low Hill Mill (Corn and Oil Cake)' built in 1861 (http://www.thorne-moorends.gov.uk/history/history.html accessed 19 July 2006). The site appears to have been cleared of historic buildings between 1966 and 1984.
