Modern industrial park on the site of the former malthouses and railway sidings associated with the Oakwell Brewery. Malthouses are first marked on 1893 maps of the area. This land was previously used as bleaching greens for the nearby Hoyle Mill and Beevor Bleachworks. This land was enclosed prior to the drawing up of the 1777 parliamentary award map. It is located on the edge of land known as Swinhill which was a medieval open field (Elliot 2002, 37). This land was probably part of the open field system. There is fragmentary legibility of the former railway lines.
