An open area of grassland with some tree planting known as St. Aidan's Rec. It was probably established in the early 1960s as part of the Norfolk Park estate. Prior to the building of the estate the area was used as a sandstone quarry. The quarry was first depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1855. Prior to quarrying the site consisted of fields enclosed in a piecemeal fashion after the disparkment of Sheffield Park. Legibility of the previous landscape is invisible.
