This site is dominated by a large and imposing building on the canal side, currently used as a wire drawing works. Comparison between the boundary of this site and historic mapping of Mexborough reveals that this site has evolved from the amalgamation of a number of probable historic plots. By 1891 these plots featured farm buildings to the frontage of Church Street and orchards and gardens closer to the canal. These horticultural areas are shown by 1891 as industrialised with the 'Don Mill (Corn)' depicted associated with a crane for the transfer of goods to and from the canal. The present large building appears between 1903 and 1930 with further sheds added in the area of the now demolished residential buildings in the mid 20th century. No legibility of earlier uses.
