Parts of this industrial area date to the late nineteenth century, although its character was radically altered during the decline and renewal of the area during the late twentieth century hence it is recorded only as having fragmentary legibility. Much of present fabric is first depicted on the 1987 OS 1:10000 mapping, particularly the industrial units along March Street which replaced high density terraced housing. The area of woodland along Stovin Road to the south east also replaced slightly larger terraced housing. Older survivals include the large industrial building to the north of the unit and the public house at the north west end of March Street.
