These large semi-detached villas were built at some time between the 1987 OS and the present day. The site was formerly occupied by the De La Salle Catholic boys school from 1923 (http://www.de-lasalle.freeserve.co.uk/history.htm - accessed 11/04/2005) . Previously to the construction of the boys school a private house known as 'The Hills' is depicted on Fairbanks 1794 mapping and the earliest known reference to the property is taken from John Harrisons 1637 survey of the parish of Sheffield when the property was listed as including a smithy (quoted in Scurfield 1986).
