The small hamlet of Plumpton. Plumpton House and Plumpton Cottages are depicted on the 1st Edition OS map of 1855. The function is unclear but it is possible that they were farm buildings, perhaps associated with Yew Tree farm. They have been reused as residential premises and other buildings have been added to the plot. The boundaries shown on the 1st edition map still appear to be extent to the south, west and east. The buildings do not appear to be depicted on the Fairbank plan of 1795 suggesting an early 19th century date for them. Legibility is partial due to the reuse of buildings and survival of boundaries.
