School built between 1931 and 1938 mapping as part of the development of housing in the north of Kexbrough. The school was built on an area of fairly regular fields enclosing the medieval townfield. The existence of the townfield is indicated by a slight reverse s shape in some surrounding field boundaries and the fact that the main roads through these fields seem to name a large area under one name. The school grounds originally fitted within an earlier field but the later addition of the Infants school altered the boundaries of the school. However, the hedge to the north of the polygon does follow the earlier boundary giving partial legibility of the former enclosures.
