Already designated a historic garden under SCC council policy BE21 (SCC1997), and also protected by inclusion in the Norton Conservation Area, these buildings and their ornamental gardens were built in 1938 in memory of John Eaton, a former Lord Mayor of Sheffield. See SMR reference PRN4325 and SCC 1997 for full description. 19th century OS maps show this area as 'Sheephill Park' an area of former piecemeal enclosures landscaped by surrounding plantations (surviving) and small naturalistic copses. Fragmentary legibility of earlier park.
