An area of allotments which are first depicted on the 1923 OS map though some are now unused. Originally the area occupied by the allotments was much larger. Prior to the allotments the area is shown on the 1796 pre-enclosure plan as part of 'Wong Field'. This has been defined as 'an enclosed area within an open field' (Field 1972, 259) or ' a meadow' (Smith 1961, 190).The plan shows an enclosed area being farmed by the open strip method. South Street was originally a path leading out from the settlement to the open fields making legibility fragmentary.
