This land, enclosed by piecemeal enclosures with no clear indication of former strip fields may represent the area of the former Fenwick Deer Park established in 1330 (See Klemperer note in SMR PRN 312). This interpretation would be supported by the placename 'Lawns' attached to several of these fields probably derived from the older form 'Laund' meaning a grassy open area on which deer grazed.
