Placename 'Westfield Lane' indicates former component of Thurlstone's townfields. Possibly private enclosure. Uncertain mix of common fields. Long thin plots at edges indicate some strip farming giving fragmentary legibility of the medieval fields. Irregularity of fields to centre of the polygon may indicate piecemeal enclosure of waste or assartment of woodland. At southern limit of the polygon is a disused quarry which was first shown on the 1893 map.
