Anglo-Saxon church of St Helen and churchyard with medieval cross base. St Helen's church Burghwallis is generally considered to have substantial Anglo-Saxon fabric in the Nave, west-end of chancel and tower (Ryder 1982, 35-44). Substantial medieval fabric survives from 13th, 14th 15th and 16th centuries. In the churchyard is the listed base and shaft of a medieval cross (with later cross). Church likely to have been central focus of the medieval village demolished by the estate in the 18th century.
