Modern housing built next to disused railway line (HSY6013). Some houses have been built by 1955 mapping, the cul-de-sac is complete by 1980. Previously enclosed land shown on 1851 map. Modern boundaries follow these field boundaries. Legibility is fragmentary. Recently enclosed land known to have been bought in this area in 1830 (Sykes 1996, 195) giving possible enclosure date for this polygon. Place name 'Dunford Bridge' first known in 1282 (Wheeler 1994) which gives the possibility for medieval activity in the area. The origin of the former moorland landscape is uncertain though this area is likely to be moorland by the Roman period (see Bevan 2003 for discussion of environmental evidence in region).
