Large agglomerated fields between Upper Whiston and Brampton en le Morthen. The 1st edition OS map depicts a landscape of thin strip fields, indicative of enclosure from medieval open fields. Although the majority of field boundaries have been removed as part of the post war agricultural intensification of the landscape, some boundaries remain, marked by hedgerows. These are likely to be medieval or early post-medieval in origin. Legibility is fragmentary due to this.
