The place name Old Moor indicates that this land was enclosed from moorland. This had occurred by 1775 (Jefferys 1775). Some of the ponds within this area are part of the mine workings from Wath Main Colliery. These have been added to when the site was relandscaped to become a nature reserve. There is no legibility of former enclosures or moorland but partial legibility of the mine.
