Terraced housing built over the 1799 parliamentary enclosure of Hoyland Common (date from English 1985). Prior to 1893 mapping the settlement at Hoyland Common was very small. Much of the housing was built by 1893 maps with further expansion by 1905. The housing would have homed miners in the nearby collieries. There is partial legibility of the surveyed enclosures in the layout of the grid terraces.
