First depicted on the 1948 6 inch OS this is the site of a former hostel for so called 'Bevin Boys' national service personnel detailed to serve in coal mines during world war II (R J C Thomas pers com). Buildings appear partially cleared on 1997 aerial photography and site reported to have bee reused as an industrial estate until early 20th century. Present condition unknown - only two Nissen huts surviving in 1997.
