Regenerated scrubland on the site of RAF Norton. The station operated between 1938 and 1965. The station consisted of domestic accommodation, administrative buildings, stores, balloon sheds, winch and tractor sheds and refuelling positions. During the world war 2, the station housed No. 16 Balloon Centre. This used the local Auxiliary Air Force Units to operate balloon barrages. After the war the station was home to maintenance units including No. 3 Ground Radio Servicing Squadron. Most buildings have now been demolished however, concrete hard standing and roads/ trackways are still discernible amongst the regenerating scrub. The circular area at the end of trackways were used as balloon exercising standings. Prior to military use the area consisted of thin fields with parallel curving sides indicative of strip fields enclosed from open fields. Legibility is partial as many features of the station remain albeit in a ruinous state.
