Large detached property with outbuildings converted into public house in the late 20th century. Stylistically the building dates to the early 19th century. Probably built as a yeoman farmhouse around the time of the enclosure of Mosborough Moor in 1804 (date from Stroud 1996, 103). Significant legibility of early 19th century residence, open ground to the north may contain relict garden features. The origin of the moorland landscape is uncertain though this area is likely to be moorland by the Roman period (see Bevan 2003 for discussion of environmental evidence).
