Experience Rock Art

Rock Art Rambles

Rock Art Rambles

The majority of rock art panels remain in situ, in the countryside, and may lie in the position in which they were originally carved. These are often wild and beautiful places with wonderful views. Why not take a day and explore some of our recommended rock art areas?

Rock Art in Museums

Rock Art in Museums

If you prefer not to get your boots muddy, you could choose to visit rock art 'in captivity'. Many small (and some quite large!) examples of rock art have been re-located to museums or other protected locations. Although removed from their original context these provide an opportunity to view rock art in more comfortable and more accessible surroundings.

Virtual Rock Art

Virtual Rock Art

Although the best way to experience rock art is 'in person', this is not always possible. This section provides a taster for the ‘armchair’ enthusiast. We hope it provides inspires you to find out more about the subject, and if you are able, to go out and enjoy it for real.
