Rock Art in Museums (and other protected locations)

Rock Art in Museums
(and other protected locations)

Many small (and some quite large!) examples of rock art have been re-located to museums or other protected locations. Although removed from their original context these provide an opportunity to view rock art close-up in more comfortable and more accessible surroundings. For a full listing of rock art in museums in Northumberland and Durham, Browse the ERA database in Type of Access and look for 'Museum'. Note: Not all rock art panels are on display and it is advisable to check with museum staff prior to visiting.
