Abstract:		 examines the reasons for the bias in the reported record of earlier Holocene sites in the area, and the archaeological and stratigraphic evidence that should provide the data to examine issues related to the speed of landscape change, the spatial complexity of the contemporary landscape, and the potential relationship between preserved sites and current site distributions for the earlier parts of the Holocene approximating to the Mesolithic and Neolithic phases.
