Replaces interim report 96/324. The site is immediately adjacent to the major Elms Farm excavations (see 95/1172 & 96/192). There was an active palaeochannel and features of Beaker, LBA/EIA and MIA date; LIA/early Roman field boundaries and a trackway continued in use, along with settlement-edge activity (such as a well), until a new boundary was made in the mid Roman period. There was only a little evidence for Late Roman and Saxon activity.
