Abstract:
This decorated fragment was found in the fill of a pit at the north end of a nineteenth century barn. It may have been in association with the foundation trench of an earlier timber building nearby, though this is uncertain. Parallels with the decorated bone strip recovered from St Leonard's Place, York, along with that found at Christchurch Street, Dublin, suggest the tenth century date. IH
