Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Pollen analysis at two sites in Fife indicates that hemp made a sudden appearance during 11th or 12th century, only to disappear equally suddenly in 14th century at one site (Black Lock) and probably in the 18th at the other (Kilconquhar Lock). Use in martime industries is most likely, but other exploitations of the fibre are possible. Documents show that the cultivation was widespread, from Caithness to the Lothians and from the Outer Hebrides to Galloway. Au(adp) | ||
