Abstract:		 In 1993 a series of test pits were excavated in a field at Millfield Farm, Stronsay, Orkney, with the aim of shedding light on the age and context of a tanged flint point found there in the 1920s. 44 pieces of worked flint were recovered, as well as one flake of quartz and three hammerstones; no features were noted. Over half of the flint artefacts were recovered from the spoil tips of a silage pit in the south-western corner of the field. This suggests that the prehistoric site at Millfield was destroyed when the pit was dug. The flint assemblage lacked diagnostic material and could not be dated. It was concluded that further work at the site was unlikely to be worthwhile. LD
