Abstract:
Large open area excavation of the deserted medieval village of Stratton has revealed evidence for a complex long-lived settlement dating from the Early Saxon period until the fourteenth century. The area of the village contains two moated medieval enclosures. Over four hectares of the village have so far been examined in detail, and it is planned to excavate another seven hectares in advance of development work. MH
