Abstract:		 Combines aerial photographic evidence, fieldwalking, resistivity and metal-detector survey, and trial excavation. Includes Neoli-thic flints, Bronze Age field--system and ring--ditch, Iron Age finds, a Romano--British villa site and other occupation/indus-trial sites (possible pottery kilns and evidence for iron smelt-ing), pagan Saxon burials and a medieval moated site. An appen-dix surveys current knowledge of the distribution of shell--tem-pered Roman tile (95/1135).
