This long-known site is now the subject of fresh excavation, mainly of midden samples near the (eroding) cliff edge. Large quantities of fish bones suggest commercial-scale catches; domestic animals include horse. Wildfowl remains are relatively few. Carbonized oats and barley were retrieved. Evidence of structures is limited so far, but the site is uniquely valuable for the quantity and quality of data. |
