Abstract: |
The barrow covered an old land surface, with a 14C date in early 2nd millennium bc, cut by ridges and furrows. A timber enclosure lay in the centre of the barrow and fences radiated thence to the surrounding ditch. After construction of the barrow two inhumations and seven cremations were inserted into it. The class II henge contained two rings of pits, both dug before the surrounding ditch, twelve burials and thirteen putative Christian graves. To the east lay two ring ditches. D J B |
