The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of five trial trenches, was undertaken in advance of the proposed construction of two new blocks of flats, demolition of outbuildings and refurbishment of an existing building. Two trenches close to the East Street frontage revealed intercutting features comprising pits, post holes and linear features. A range of dates was represented by pottery finds with phases of activity in the 11th-13th centuries, 15th-16th centuries and 17th -20th centuries. One trench located towards the southern margin of the site revealed a dump deposit that may have represented the tail of the rampart of the eastern town defences. [Au(adp)]
