Abstract: |
The evaluation was successful in identifying substantial medieval and post-medieval remains. The precinct wall of a medieval Dominican Friary was revealed together with related features. Late post-medieval industrial activity was represented by the substantial remains of the 19th century tanning industry which was superseded by the structural remains of late 19th century warehouses, examples of which still stood to the east of the site.
