Abstract:
The evaluation was undertaken of two adjacent plots, one occupied by a pumping station and the other covered in hardcore following the demolition of a petrel station. Layers of peat, interleaved with and capped by alluvium, were exposed in several trenches. A further trench revealed deep layers of colluvium, sealing a charcoal-rich former ground surface. One fragment of struck flint was recovered from the base of the peat deposits. [Au]
