Abstract: |
The assessment showed that the area had produced nationally important Palaeolithic finds from the surrounding gravels but the site itself lay in a depression associated with the Stamford Brook and filled with London Clays. The site conditions indicated that any archaeological survival on the site was patchy. The presence of a basement beneath the 19th century house would have destroyed any archaeology within its footprint. The presence of Palaeolithic finds as part of wash material during flooding could be expected. [Au(abr)] |
