Abstract: |
The assessment was carried out ahead of proposed development of the 31ha site. Modern quarrying operations had been undertaken on much of the study area, and the land had subsequently been restored. Most of the archaeological deposits had therefore been destroyed, although excavations were undertaken in advance of this destruction by the former Milton Keynes Archaeological Unit. The northern part of the study area was evaluated by trial trenching in 1989. This identified an area adjacent to the former quarry that was likely to have contained a low density of features of possible Iron Age, Roman and Early/Middle Saxon date. [Au(abr)] |
