Abstract: |
A watching brief was held during the consolidation of a section of rampart retaining wall, adjacent to 18 Hunt Court. The wall was probably of 19th century date, a portion of which was the front elevation of a structure which projected back into the rampart. This structure was defined by the side walls running into the rampart to the north and centre of the area. A limestone wall was found behind the 19th century brick wall, and due to the mix of building materials was difficult to date. It was shown to be no later in construction than 1852, but could conceivably have dated from the early post-medieval period. [Au(adp)] |
