Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation of land at Lilac Bank and Rosemead, Shalbourne comprised the machine excavation of two trenches in areas likely to be affected by proposed development. Despite being close to a well-preserved medieval village and a recently excavated area containing a series of ditches and pits of 12th-13th century date, the evaluation revealed no archaeological deposits or artefacts. Much of the area consisted of modern infilling, possibly associated with garden landscaping during the initial construction of the cottages. [Au(adp)] |
