Abstract: |
Observation of drain trenches in October 1994 revealed no deposits associated with the deserted medieval village of Finham or King's Hill (Warwickshire SMR Ref No. WA 2918). However, one trench to the north east of the farm ran across the site of a possible Bronze Age barrow (Warwickshire SMR Ref No. WA 2908). The site was marked by a layer of clay 20m across over the natural gravel, but no barrow ditch was visible, no finds were made, and a ridge in the surface appeared to be linear rather than moundlike. This casts some doubt on the identification of the site as a barrow.[AIP] |
