Abstract: |
Archaeological investigation was undertaken prior to construction. Four boreholes were dug across the line of the town ditch. Small quantities of pottery and bone were retrieved. Environmental analysis of the sediments revealed some charred plant, waterlogged and molluscan material but not in sufficient quantities to merit detailed further analysis. A watching brief carried out during demolition and service trench digging did not reveal any deposits earlier that the 19th century. [Au(adp)] |
