Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of test-pits prior to the construction of an extension to the Moat Hotel. The hotel was built over the moat of the city defences in the late 19th century. Scheduled Monument Consent was required for the work. The results showed that the moat was shallow in the area where the pits were excavated, probably because this was originally on the edge of the slope rather than at its deepest point. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} 1990.1011 (YAT investigation identification no) |
