Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken in advance of the proposed development of the site. The site did not lie within an Area of Archaeological Importance and did not contain any Listed Buildings or SAMs. There was a number of entries from the SMR within the vicinity of the site, although there were none within the site confines. The proposed scheme of development involved the construction of houses across the site, with an area of public open space to the south-east. The buildings would not have basements, however, they would have a substantial impact on the ground which had previously remained undisturbed. The construction of the road and the landscaping of the public open space would also cause some disturbance of the ground. As the site had suffered very little disturbance and based on other archaeological finds, it was recommended that an archaeological evaluation be conducted across the site to discern the presence or absence of any archaeological deposits.
