Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a proposed development site identified that no archaeological remains had been recorded at the site. A Neolithic axe had been found within Lingfield, and an Iron Age hillfort lay approximately 3km to the south east. No records were found to suggest settlement in the vicinity before the medieval period, when the area was likely to have been intensively farmed. It was concluded that the proposed development would pose no threat to the archaeological record. [AIP] |
