Abstract: |
The watching brief was undertaken on a site which lay within an area of high archaeological significance, lying at the southwest corner of the lower Roman Colonia, and to the west of the medieval town wall. The area was believed to contain evidence from these periods. The results of the watching brief proved largely negative, with only relatively recent deposits uncovered by trenching. It was borne in mind, however, that the limited nature of the investigation meant that archaeological remains may have been missed. [AIP] |
