Abstract: |
Four trial trenches were excavated in advance of the proposed redevelopment of the site. Early medieval activity (11th century) was observed in all of the trenches, in the form of pits, a possible ditch terminus/pit and a post hole. A possible chalk/flint wall, possibly of medieval date, was also recorded. One possible post hole and a few residual sherds of 10th century date were also recorded along with a pit of the 16th century or later. The site was levelled or cultivated in the 18th century or later prior to the late 19th and 20th century usage. [Au(adp)] |
