Abstract: |
An total of 17 evaluation trenches were excavated on the site of proposed mineral extraction and a flood alleviation scheme. Several trenches revealed a moderate density of pits, ditches/gullies and post holes of early and later Roman date. Some middle and late Bronze Age pottery was also recorded. A small number of ditches towards the southern end of the site were of uncertain date but may have reflected field boundaries or possibly a need to drain a hollow area within the site. [Au(adp)] |
