Abstract: |
Desk-based study of two areas of land located either side of Slaynes Lane identified that a cropmark of a sub-rectilinear enclosure, located immediately outside the boundary of the proposed development area, also included associated linear features which extended into the development area along a finger-shaped outcrop of first river terrace gravels. Other evidence of past activity in the surrounding area included finds of human bones, a prehistoric stone axe (Neolithic or Bronze Age), a Bronze Age palstave, a bronze sword or dagger, Roman pottery and thee bronze brooches. An iron socketed medieval arrowhead had also been recovered in an area close to the proposal site. [AIP] |
