Abstract: |
Archaeology South-East were commissioned to investigate and record a brick-lined 'well' which had been uncovered during construction work. The construction of the original brick chamber suggested a 19th century date and it was probably associated with the adjacent Coastguard cottages. Its function was somewhat more enigmatic, however, its form suggested it was more likely to have originally been a cesspit or drainage sump rather than a well. [Au(abr)] |
