Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken on excavations and a borehole carried out to test ground conditions. The site was situated on the junction of three Roman roads, and Roman structures had also been discovered at an adjacent site. It was found that the Mansion House foundations lay directly upon natural sub-soil. A layer of cobbles, located at the foundations, was thought either to be contemporary with the Mansion House, or remains of a Roman surface. [Au(abr)] |
