Abstract: |
Excavations to empty and enlarge a dried up pond exposed a group of timbers. A ceramic horse-shoe drain was also exposed which seemed to have the same alignment as the timber. This was sitting on top of the natural sub-soil. There was modern brick rubble sealing the timber with fragments of modern ceramic pottery dumped together with it. One timber was a worked piece of oak, possibly part of another structure. The timber was removed but found to be too fragmented for any dendro-chronology to take place. There was no dating evidence for the timber but it was not thought to be an Iron Age trackway. [Au(abr)] |
