Abstract: |
<summary>An inspection and recording exercise was undertaken at Whitehawk Neolithic causewayed enclosure, when a machine cut six trenches to locate and remove a 19th century bottle dump. The stratigraphy of Trenches C and D was unlike that of the other four trenches. The topsoil and overlying trackway sealed an earlier series of chalk loam deposits, which lay directly over the natural chalk. It is possible that this represents the remains of a slumped earthen bank, which in turn may well be the remnants of the final enclosure bank. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
