Abstract:
A watching brief was undertaken on two trenches excavated to determine general ground conditions. The site was located close to the recorded route of a medieval moat, a Franciscan Friary and was 330 metres to the south of the Roman legionary fortress. All the material in the first trench appeared to have been mixed with modern material suggesting modern disturbance. All the deposits in the second trench were modern or post-medieval. No archaeological remains were located. [Au(abr)]
