Abstract: |
Desk-based assessment of a site proposed for allotments identified that a small number of sites of archaeological interest had been recorded in the surrounding area. These comprised a possible barrow, a row of four barrows, the findspot of an Iron Age spearhead, a possibe Roman road and the former site of a mill. Cartographic evidence indicated that the site itself had been used as arable land since at least the mid-18th century. It was concluded that the site had a low archaeological potential and that no further work would be necessary. [AIP] |
