Abstract: |
<summary>A watching brief was undertaken on ground preparation works for a new silage effluent tank on part of the site of Marton Priory, a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Initial excavation revealed a possible wall or wall-footing 0.3m below the ground. Since such a wall was likely to relate to the medieval priory, it was agreed to move the site of the proposed hole 1m to the north-east. This was done, and the excavation proceeded without any other archaeological features being encountered. Two sherds of late medieval pottery were recovered. {italon}AIP{italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} 1990.5001 (YAT investigation identification no) |
