Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was undertaken during trenching for new floodlighting cables at St. Nicholas's Church, partly within the SAM of St. Mary's Abbey. The work revealed that little damage occurred to the surviving archaeological remains although a trench on the south side of the church went through a substantial stone wall. This wall was possibly part of the monastic precinct boundary constructed around the time that the parish church of St. Nicholas was built (c.13th century). [Au] |
