Abstract: |
A planning application was made for residential development which would occupy land adjacent to 84 The Street. The site was known to have contained a circular ditch with a raised central earthwork mound, known as 'The Mardle', which was shown on OS maps into the 1920s, although no trace now exists. The field evaluation revealed no evidence for the mound or surrounding ditch of the Mardle; instead, it revealed that the majority of the site had been used as a dump for builders rubble. [AIP] |
