Abstract: |
In November 1996, an archaeological field evaluation was undertaken on a proposed housing development site at North Street Nurseries, Mere, which lay on the probable edge of the medieval town. Two trial trenches were mechanically excavated, and a small number of archaeological features were observed. None were of any great antiquity and several were either cut through post-medieval deposits or contained post-medieval finds. One feature contained a large flint flake. Based on the evidence the potential for significant archaeological remains on the site was considered to be low. [Au(abr)] |
