Abstract: |
A preliminary archaeological assessment was carried out and revealed that the potential importance of St Georges hill in the Palaeolithic period was based on material retrieved from the Plateau Gravel deposits. The geological map suggested that Highclere was located just off these deposits although the borehole survey did show that sand and gravel deposits underlay the site. The development would expose these deposits on the western end of the plot during construction. Further work was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
