Abstract: |
A preliminary survey comprising aerial photographic assessment, geophysical survey and metal-detecting prospection in connection with the proposed construction of a watermain from Draycote Water in Warwickshire to Barby in Northamptonshire was undertaken. The Northamptonshire section of the proposed pipeline was evaluated. Although the county SMR recorded the presence of a cropmark enclosure and linear ditch, and an aerial photograph showed ridge and furrow, no new archaeological sites were revealed along the proposed route of the pipeline. No evidence of archaeological features possibly relating to a presumed former chapel of a nearby deserted medieval village were identified either. [AIP] |
